Our modern society is filled with many things that provide increasing challenges to either our physical, mental or emotional well being; and being ‘tired and wired’ or’ just plain tired’ is one of the most common conditions patients present with.
Fatigue is a greater problem today than it has ever been before.
People are increasingly anxious and overwhelmed with their lives and they don’t know what to do about it. Fatigue arises when the complex systems of the human body do not have the adequate means to recuperate – which can lead to burn-out of the whole system.
What causes fatigue?
Lack of sleep seems obvious, but what is the cause of sleep loss?
The list is long but may include noise and light pollution, shift work, lifestyle choices, disruptive room mates, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, stress or depression, side effects of drugs and chronic pain.
Hormonal imbalances can be another common cause – as in hypothyroid patients, at menopause, with adrenal insufficiency or in conjunction with neurotransmitter deficiencies such as melatonin.
There may be an underlying infection.
It could be a nutritional deficiency of vitamins or minerals such as (iron or vitamin B12) or it could be a toxic overload that is draining energy from your body.
At Ocean Park Natural Therapies we can quickly screen for these causal factors using autonomic response testing along with appropriate other exam or lab methods.
What is the treatment?
Treatment must be individualized and tailored according to the appropriate causes:
Micro-organisms need to be neutralized and removed,
Toxins must be eliminated,
Energy systems rebuilt with appropriate rest and nutrition.
Good mental and emotional health needs to be restored with good mental and emotional habits.
We are here with years of experience to assist you in restoring proper health and vitality in your life.
